The old Arabic legends and even the Yemenis say that the name “Yemen” derives from the word AL-YUMN: blessing and prosperity. This meaning agrees with the name "Arabia Felix". Others think that the classification AL-YAMAN derives from Yumna (right from the Kaaba...).
Some Yemenis are still referring to the northern region with the word "AL-SHAM" and to the southern with “AL-YAMAN”.
