|Cameroon - The Giant frog, also called “Goliath frog”, is the greatest species in the world. No other frog could compete of size with this monster. Since its discovery in 1908, this frog remained mysterious until 1957, date on which the Swiss specialist J-L Perret published a detailed study of his biology. |

|Narrowly localised, the giant frog did not see that to the immediate surroundings of the waterfalls and manages to remain only in one atmosphere saturated with steam. Excellent swimming, it plunges to the slightest warning and hides in inaccessible places. |
It is extremely difficult to approach this animal, because its biotope is made slipping rocks. Its giant frog name is by no means exaggerated to judge some by the gigantism of certain individuals; largest known is a female captured in 1963, on Rio Muni, which weighed 3,3 kg. It measured 32 cm of the muzzle to the anus and its posterior legs reached 44 cm.
The overall length of this fabulous animal was 76 cm! In spite of the extraordinary size of the adults, the eggs and the tadpoles, which are born from it, are very with time normal. At the time of the metamorphosis, the small frogs resemble any other species and nobody would suspect that they will become gigantic.
