| | | | | CANINE TOP RESCUERS Page 1 2 Page 1 2 | | | | In France, specially-trained dogs have been searching for people buried under avalanches for the past twenty years. They are amazingly efficient in finding anybody stuck under rocks and snow, and these bloodhound are now famous for their exploits.
Alsatians, Beauce shepherds, Pyrennees shepherds, labradors or other such dogs have to be operational in any circumstances to help firemen. For that, they are trained with much care and rigour by their masters.
The valor of this canine elite is proportional to the heavy investments they benefit from. The big and powerful Newfoundland dogs are excellent swimmers and specialize in sea rescue operations. They have a clear advantage in comparison to modern means of detection that function only on sound, as they couple great mobility with the capacity to detect victims even when they are unconscious. Nothing can compete with their unique sense of smell.
A documentary through the canine elite of France. |
